An ongoing cartography of Gaza in sound
Ambient Gaza gathers and safeguards the everyday sonic and oral histories of Palestinians in Gaza — oral testimony, field recordings, and music that hold daily life, memory and resistance. Together they form a living archive of place-based sound, grounded in the voices of those who inhabit Gaza.
It is an act of non-erasure: a refusal to forget, a recognition of Palestinian humanity. Each recording is placed on the map at the place it holds — recorded there, or remembered from displacement — so it can be listened to, independently, anywhere in the world, until these sounds can once again resonate in the places and lives from which they came.

Voices from Gaza, mapped to memory
An interactive archive of Gaza in sound — testimony, soundscapes and music, each placed on the map at the place it holds: homes, streets and shores lived in, remembered, and carried by the people who know them. Built with We Are Not Numbers and the wider support network for Gaza, it is a record that refuses to be erased.
03 The album
Ambient Gaza, Vol. 1
The first volume gathers soundscapes of Gaza from before the current wave of destruction — marketplaces, olive harvests, beachside play. Buying it is how the project funds emergency relief; it was our original fundraising model until streaming platforms censored it.

04 Why it matters
Sound as solidarity, listening as resistance
Gaza is going through a genocide, live. We are being gaslit by leaders and news media who want us to look away — to ignore that they are party to it. People everywhere are searching for a way to respond, and to stand with Palestinians. This is one of them: to listen, to witness, and to refuse to forget.
We believe art still holds power — to witness, to connect, and to break through oppression with quiet, resonant truths. That the project is gaining ground — including a place at the 2025 Glastonbury Festival — is not a booking but a signal: a refusal to erase, a call for peaceful resistance, a recognition of Palestinian humanity in the face of one of the gravest atrocities of our time.

Join the Collective
Ambient Gaza is seeking soundscapes and testimony from Gazans — in Gaza, displaced, and in the diaspora — for Ambient Gaza Vol. 2 and the growing archive. Community members shape the archive itself: what is significant, how it is described, how it is remembered.
Every recording is vetted so that no person can be identified or located. The Collective stays anonymous, centring listening over recognition — reclaiming narrative agency and preserving cultural memory under conditions of loss.
